About Alberto “Beto” Gonzalez

Writing about yourself is boring. And frankly, I’m not that good at egoboosting. But you probably came here wondering who the heck is running this place, right? Okay. So let me present myself.

I am a graphic designer by college graduation and a helpless geek by association. I dreamed of becoming a character animator like those guys at Disney, but a meager economy and a nonexistent local market decided that I should choose a more, uh, realistic career. So I majored in Graphic Arts at the University of Costa Rica on the mid-1990s.

At the same time, the Internet was exploding big and wild, and the geek part of me wanted to be part of it. And so it did. To this day, creating websites and web applications has provided my bread and butter across many companies in Costa Rica and abroad. However, the desire to reconnect with my creative, non-coding side has grown stronger over the years, and so I decided to transform this, my personal site, into a big illustration portfolio. I’d eventually like to turn comic illustration into a full-time career. Consider this as the first stepping stone.

This site is a perennial work in progress. I lost track of how many times I have redesigned it over long ago. But that’s part of the fun of it all, isn’t it?

If you like what you see here, I’d love to hear about it. And maybe connect with each other through all those social networking thingies above. Thanks for stopping by. That was a lot to read.
